Duration

For the following scholarships, the maximum scholarship period is:

Master's level: two (2) years

Doctoral level: four (4) years

Award Value

The Chilean Government provides:

  • tuition
  • monthly living allowance
  • language training in Chile (English or French) for up to 12 months
  • return airfare (economy class)
  • dependents' allowance
The Canadian Government provides:
  • health insurance for scholars and their dependents
  • up to four months language training in Canada (English or French)
  • study permit and visa fees
  • orientation session in Canada
NOTE: dependents 18 years and younger receive free public education; spouse may obtain work permit

Background

In June 2008, the Prime Minister of Canada and the President of Chile signed a memorandum of understanding establishing the framework for this program, expected to provide 100 scholarships per year to Chileans wishing to conduct Master's or Doctoral studies in Canada.

Eligibility

Open to Chilean citizens residing in Chile at the time of application.

Applicants must have completed the following level of studies or expect to do so prior to the commencement of the award:

Master's level: undergraduate degree

Doctoral level: Master's degree
